How it works

From the first call to papers you can find again

Most plans take three short meetings. Here is what happens in each.

  1. 01

    Step 1: A short call

A member of the office asks what’s going on and books you with the lawyer who does that kind of work.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The first meeting

Forty-five minutes, in Honolulu or by video. You tell us the story; we tell you what we’d do and what it costs, in writing.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The draft

You get the papers and a plain summary to read at home, and we change anything that doesn’t sound like you.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The signing

A short visit with the witnesses and notary arranged. You leave with your originals and a one-page list of who has copies.

What you take home

A folder your family can open without calling us

The papers are only half of it. The summary is what your children or your parents’ caregivers will actually read.

Every client gets signed originals, a one-page summary of who is named for what, and a list of the accounts and titles we checked. We keep a copy and tell you where the originals are best stored. If you move, marry, divorce or buy a home, call and we’ll tell you what to update.

In the folder

  • Signed originals, with a plain-English summary

  • A list of who holds copies

  • A note of what to update when life changes
