Long first meetings, short documents

Louisa opened the firm after years of watching families sit across a desk from a lawyer who talked over their heads. Her first meetings still run long, because she asks about the house, the kids and who in the family doesn’t speak to whom before she asks about the documents.

She drafts most of the firm’s wills and trusts, and she’s known for talking people out of things they don’t need. A couple with a modest home and a good beneficiary form might leave with a will and a checklist, and a promise to call if anything changes.
